I Hate Winter Party Results PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 10 April 2008
March 28, 2008 marked our first annual “I Hate Winter Party.”  The event was a success – just ask the 60 people who braved the cold to show their support for spring.  The festivities included: a rousing game of musical chairs, sand volleyball (minus the sand), guitar hero, bean bag toss tournaments, and sand castle building contests.  Most activities were narrated by the night’s provisional dj/comedians: Eric, Mike, Adam, or whoever could grab the microphone first.  There was also a spread of mouthwatering munchies. Although we all tried our best to take the taste of spring with us when we left the party around midnight, the next few days blasted us with a snow storm.  Hopefully we will have better success next year.

I Hate Winter Party - March 28 PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 20 March 2008

Join us for the next big Fuse bash on March 28. We'll be doing tropical music, sand castle building, and the macarina.

When: Friday, March 28 @ 8pm
Where: Celebrate Campus - 18th & Sycamore
What to bring: Yourself and a bunch of friends

More info...

“Spring, spring, spring, spring.”  Yes, we’re all thinking it, but the question is “Are you willing to do something about it?”  Join us on Friday, March 28th for an “I Hate Winter Party.”  The Fuse is hoping that with this "tropical paradise" themed party, spring will not be able to stay away.  The seduction of spring will begin with the scent of fantastic food, followed by games, prizes, “hot” dance numbers (like the marcarina), and tropical tunes.  Who knows – you may even meet a few people cleverly disguised as Islanders (attempting to trick the summerlike weather into settling).  This Fuse fling will take place at Celebrate Campus (18th and Sycamore) so put some spring in your step and get there by 8pm.

The Fuse @ Celebrate PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 13 February 2008

What's up everybody!  I hope you are all doing well and braving the frozen tundra that is a South Dakota winter!

I wanted to let everybody know of some recent updates regarding  The Fuse organization.  As of February 1st , The Fuse has officially become affiliated with Celebrate Community Church in Sioux Falls!  This is definitely an exciting time for The Fuse.

The leadership team of the Fuse made this decision for several reasons.  First, we believe that every organization needs a spiritual mentor/partner.   Having a connection to Celebrate enables us to have the spiritual guidance from members of Celebrate's staff.  We feel that this will help move The Fuse forward and go a long way towards long term viability

We also feel strongly that Celebrate's mission of taking it to the streets and reaching people for Jesus matches with the goal of The Fuse.  There are so many young adults in their 20's and early 30's that need a faith-based organization to be associated with and this will allow us an opportunity to reach more of them.

We will continue to have the same monthly formats for our Fuse events so keep an eye on the website, your facebook pages, and e-mails for invitations to future events.  I also want to be clear that Fuse events our open to every young adult who wants to attend.  It doesn't matter what church they go to- they are inclusive to everyone!

 God Bless,

 Todd Schlekeway

What's next? PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 02 January 2008

So you came to the big party, you had some killer fun. So what's next? We're on it.

We ended off 2007 strong, but we think this Fuse thing is just getting started. In 2008 we have more unique events planned to keep things interesting: we'll be hangin at Great Bear, doing a warehouse dance, going to some sporting events, doing a concert or two, and lots of other fun stuff. But we are also adding a deeper aspect to what we do. Sometime late spring or early summer you will see groups springing out of The Fuse. These groups will be a variety of things.

The first thing we're looking at is launching a weekly meal and bible study. This will be a way for you to discover or get deeper in your faith. Christ is at the center of who we are, and we want to grow our relationship with him.

We are also excited about building interest groups. I'm into mountain biking, so I'll be planning mountain biking/camping excursions. We've also had ideas ranging from cooking parties to skydiving to disc golf. If you're interested in it, we're here to create community around it.

So if you have a great idea for a group you think would be stinkin awesome, let us know. We'll do our best to make it a reality. We crave feedback, so let us know what you think!

Peace out

-Mike

Wednesday, 02 January 2008

Thank you all for coming out for a huge New Year's party! We were blessed with between 150 and 200 people, which exceeded even our own expectations. We are psyched that you all came out, it just wouldn't have been the same if just the organizers showed up :)

So thanks again for coming out, and watch out for more events in the future. 2008 is going to be a great year for this movement, and we're excited to see what God does!

A special thanks to our many sponsors that provided us food, support, and great prizes:
